厦门工学院坐落于福建省厦门市集美区,是2009年经教育部批准设立的全日制民办普通本科高校,2019年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估。
厦门工学院素有“一园绿荫映屋宇、四季红英照楼台”之美,办学条件优越,校园环境优美。学校秉承“立德树人,以文化人”的教育理念,以“百年树人,百年名校”为办学愿景,推行“博雅教育、知识教育、能力培养”三位一体的人才培养模式,在师资队伍建设、学科与专业建设、学校文化建设等方面都有着独特的追求,并逐渐凝聚成自己的办学特色。
厦门工学院已经发展为学科门类较为齐全、办学水平稳步提高、具有一定社会影响的应用型本科高校。学校现设机械电气与信息工程学院、建筑科学与土木工程学院、商学院、数据科学与计算机学院、外国语学院、博雅教育与艺术传媒学院6个本科生学院,还有思想政治理论课教学部、体育部等公共教学单位,开设本科专业38个,涵盖工学、理学、经济学、管理学、文学、艺术学六大学科门类,以工科的前沿新技术专业为主,学校现有全日制在校生一万多人,有教职工近千人。
厦门工学院图书馆总面积3.9万平方米,馆藏纸质图书100多万册。近年来,学校全力推进教育信息化建设,建成智慧教室100多间。学校积极构建具有自己特色的校园文化,已建成以“五馆十园”为代表的“观文”系列人文景观。学校每年举办“爱生节”“尊师节”“春夏之声”校园音乐节、博雅杯年度艺术大展、校园健康跑、校园马拉松赛等一批特色鲜明、格调高雅的文化艺术活动,全面培育学生的文化品格和人文精神。
2019年至今,学校获得省部级以上教学质量工程建设项目92项、教学改革项目29项,教师教学竞赛获奖8项;学校现有2个省级高校应用型学科、7个省级一流本科专业、25门省级一流本科课程、1个省级示范性应用型专业群、4个省级高校服务产业特色专业、4个省级实验教学示范中心、2个省级虚拟仿真实验教学中心、2个省级本科教学团队等。学校现有1个福建省高校重点实验室、1个福建省高校人文社会科学研究基地,建有230个校外实习实践基地,在柔性制造装备集成技术、物联网技术及应用、嵌入式人工智能计算及应用、先进功能材料、数字贸易等学科方向形成一定特色和优势。毕业生就业率在同类高校创下新高,教学质量不断的提升。

Located in Jimei District, Xiamen, Fujian Province, Xiamen Institute of Technology (XIT) is a full-time private undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. It was established in 2009 and passed the Ministry’s undergraduate teaching quality assessment in 2019.
Boasting superior educational conditions and a picturesque campus, XIT is renowned for its beauty, described as “green shades reflecting buildings and red blossoms illuminating pavilions throughout the seasons”. Upholding the educational philosophy of “fostering virtue through education and cultivating people with culture”, XIT aims for the vision of “nurturing talents and building a prestigious institution over a century”. It implements a comprehensive talent cultivation model that integrates “liberal education, knowledge education, and capability training.” The Institute pursues excellence in faculty development, discipline and program construction, and cultural development, gradually forming its own educational characteristics.
Throughout the years, XIT has evolved into an application-oriented undergraduate institution that offers a wide range of disciplines and steadily improves its educational standards, gaining a significant social impact. The school comprises six undergraduate colleges: School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Architectural Science and Civil Engineering, Business School, School of Data and Computer Science, School of Foreign Languages, and School of Liberal Arts Education and Art Media. Additionally, there are public teaching units such as the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Course Teaching and the Department of Physical Education. XIT offers 38 undergraduate majors across six academic disciplines: engineering, science, economics, management, literature, and art, primarily focusing on advanced new technology in engineering. At present, there are over 10,000 full-time students and nearly 1,000 faculty members.
The library of XIT covers a total area of 39,000 square meters and houses over 1,000,000 printed books. In recent years, the school has made tremendous efforts to promote educational informatization, establishing more than 100 smart classrooms. Moreover, it actively fosters a distinctive campus culture, epitomized by the “Cultural Observation” series of cultural landscapes represented by “Five Exhibitions and Ten Gardens”. Every year, the school hosts a variety of culturally distinctive and sophisticated art events, such as Love Students Festival, Respect Teachers Festival, Spring and Summer Music Festival, Bo Ya Cup Annual Art Exhibition, Campus Health Run, and Campus Marathon, all contributing to the comprehensive cultivation of students’ cultural qualities and humanistic spirit.
Since 2019, the school has been awarded 92 provincial and ministerial level projects for teaching quality engineering, 29 teaching reform projects, and 8 awards in faculty teaching competitions. Currently, there are 2 provincial-level application-oriented disciplines, 7 provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs, 25 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, 1 provincial-level demonstrative application-oriented professional cluster, 4 provincial-level characteristic professional service sectors for higher education, 4 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and 2 provincial-level undergraduate teaching teams. The institute houses 1 key laboratory for higher education in Fujian Province and 1 research base for humanities and social sciences, and has established 230 off-campus internship and practice bases. It has cultivated distinct characteristics and advantages in fields such as flexible manufacturing equipment integration technologies, Internet of Things applications, embedded artificial intelligence computing, advanced functional materials, and digital trade. The employment rate of graduates has reached a new high among similar institutions, and the quality of education continues to improve.
