成都外国语学院是国家教育部批准设立的全日制普通本科院校,前身是四川外国语大学成都学院,创办于2000年,2023年9月经教育部批准更名为成都外国语学院。学校是四川省130多所高校中唯一的专业外国语高校,致力于创建高水平、国际化、应用型外国语大学。
学校现有成都、宜宾两个校区,占地面积1400多亩,校园湖光山色、风景宜人、空气清新,建筑风格中西合璧,自然人文环境交融辉映,是读书治学、成长成才的理想园地。
作为四川及西部地区重要的外语资源和人才基地,学校开设本专科专业65个,其中有30个外语类专业,涉及16门外语,6门外语在四川省高校中独一无二,形成了以外语学科为主,文学、经济、管理、艺术、教育等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。学校现有1个国家级一流本科专业,5个四川省本科高校一流本科专业,4个四川省本科高校应用型示范专业,4个四川省民办高校重点特色专业,外国语言文学学科入选四川省贡嘎计划培育学科,2023年获批硕士学位授予立项建设单位。学校是中国高等教育学会外语教学研究分会理事单位、中国高校外语慕课联盟理事单位、教育部“三进”工作试点高校等,多次在第三方机构的相关高校排行榜中获评外语类、文学类第1名。

Chengdu International Studies University (CISU) approved by the Ministry of Education is a full-time general undergraduate institution. Chengdu Institute Sichuan International Studies University, the predecessor of CISU was established in 2000. In September 2023, it was officially renamed Chengdu International Studies University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Among more than 130 higher education institutions in Sichuan Province CISU is the only specialized foreign language university committed to building a high-level foreign language university featuring application and global vision.
The university boasts two campuses in Chengdu and Yibin covering a total area of over 1,400 mu (approximately 93.33 hectares). Characterized by the beautiful lakes and mountains, pleasant scenery, fresh air, buildings that embody Chinese and western styles, as well as the harmoniously integrated natural and cultural environment. CISU is a paradise for scholarly pursuits and personal growth.
In Sichuan and western China, as a crucial foreign language resource and talent base, the university offers 65 undergraduate and 3-year diploma programs, including 30 foreign language programs, covering 16 foreign languages with six language programs solely offered among Sichuan’s higher education institutions. The multiple-discipline system, with foreign languages as the main focus together with literature, economics, management, arts, education, etc. develops in a coordinated manner. The university has 1 national first-class undergraduate program, 5 provincial first-class undergraduate programs, 4 provincial application-oriented demonstration programs, 4 provincial key characteristic programs in the private HEI realm. Its discipline of foreign language and literature has been included in the list of Gongga Plan for the “Double First-Class” Construction of Higher Education Institutions in Sichuan Province. In 2023, it was approved as the Institution Undergoing the Construction Phase for Master’s Degree Conferral. The university is a member of the Foreign Language Education Committee of China Association of Higher Education. It is also a directorate member of China MOOCs for Foreign Studies as well as one of the pilot universities for the “Three-Entering” Work of the Ministry of Education. On multiple rankings of relevant higher education institutions by third-party institutions CISU has ranked first in both foreign language and literature categories.
The university adheres to a talent-driven strategy. Morally upright, talented, and excellent in teaching is a dedicated team of teachers that the university boasts. It employs foreign teachers for 16 different foreign languages throughout the year. Among the faculty, there are members of the Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education, members of Sichuan Province’s Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee, members of the New Liberal Arts Education Steering Committee, members of the Ideological and Political Education Steering Committee, and more than 10 national outstanding teachers. In the past three years, teachers have won over 100 awards in teaching competitions at the provincial level and above.
The university is committed to running an application-oriented university, integrating “foreign languages +” and “+ foreign languages”, so as to cultivate students to become equipped with strong employment capabilities, work skills, development potential, and personal charm for growing into excellent applied talents. It now recruits students from 27 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government, and autonomous regions) across the country. The university, with over 24,000 students, comprises a total of 12 schools and 8 new liberal arts laboratory clusters. With more than 100 laboratories, it has been rated as a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center and a provincial-level practice base for college students in the humanities. Since its establishment, CISU has been highly praised for its quality of education, featuring the passing rates of several language majors exceeding the national average by more than 20 percentage points. In the past three years, more than 320 students, in professional competitions at the provincial level and above have won championships, grand prizes, and first prizes. Approximately 15% of our graduates successfully pass the postgraduate qualification exam each year and in the rankings of third-party institutions and media, the rate of students pursuing further studies is among the top. The university has cultivated more than 65,000 outstanding graduates, who are widely welcomed by employers and the employment rate is at the forefront of similar colleges and universities. These achievements earn the university the award of “Excellent Institution for Graduate Employment Work in Sichuan Province”. Its alumni are spread all over the world, and a large number of outstanding alumni have made significant achievements in various industries.
The university is committed to an international approach to education having established friendly cooperative relations with more than 120 universities in 24 countries around the world. It offers a variety of study abroad programs suitable for all languages and majors such as master’s degree programs, dual degrees, undergraduate promotion, junior college to master’s degree, and exchange student programs as well as paid internships and overseas employment opportunities. Every year, more than 500 students go abroad for further study, internships, and employment. Some students have received full scholarships from China Scholarship Council Hungarian national scholarships and scholarships from the ROK government. It has successively recruited 9 batches of students from Russia, ROK, Italy, and other countries. Every year, many foreign government officials, consulate officers and HEI presidents visit for exchanges. Many students have been selected to participate in the China-Japan-Korea Leaders’ Summit, Chengdu Universiade, the World Military Games, the China-Arab Forum, and other important diplomatic and foreign affairs activities. The university is also a “Training Base for Portuguese Language of China (Sichuan) Medical Aid Team Abroad”, “Belarusian Ministry of Education Belarusian Study Abroad Preparatory Center”, “International Education Exchange Center, Education Forum for Asia”.
